Happy Easter

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all having a great Easter weekend. We’ve had 2 egg hunts and a beautiful spring weekend with lots of sunshine (though still pretty cool at 6C). Life with 2 kids is hectic but the girls are really great and we’re loving it all the same. Syncronized naps are starting to help too ;-) .

Still planning our trip to Cape Town in December ‘09 for Stella’s 1st birthday and xmas. Also hoping for a wee visit from one of the broers this August too…

Miss you all, with lots of love and hugs for all the kids,

Saartjie + Harim, Sofia & Stella

It’s a girl!

Yes, another girl for the Labuschagne Wolfe’s. Born on Wednesday, December 3rd. This makes girl #7 here in what is now becoming quite a wintery Canada.

Everything went very well. She was born at home in the bath after only a few hours of strong labour. I woke in the morning with some mild contractions that got strong by 10 and she was born at 12:39. We had all our team here again and we felt very supported. Sara’s sister Jessica who took the day off work to come help with Sofia, arrived around 9. Her other sister, Naomi, along with her little one, showed up around 10:30. The midwives came about 11:30 and we were ready. It was fast and furious from that point and she came out in the bath with the help of midwife sister Naomi and the other midwives. Sofia watched over the events from the safe arms of her Papa and is already very protective and watchful over her little sister.

As many of you know, things get pretty crazy with 2. Sorry to take so long to get the news out.  Still no name, but we’ll let you know soon as we do. Hali has been quite busy with his semester at school coming to a close, running Sofia around and taking care of mommy and baby. The biggest of his projects is due the end of this week and then we hope to have a slightly less stressed Papa around.

Hope everyone in sunny SA is doing well. We’re certainly feeling a bit of homesickness and wish we could come visit soon. Hopefully we’ll be able to manage a trip in about a years time with the girls!

greetings

had such a lazy day, had time to fell guilty not writing a post for a long time. so here I am,HI!!it was comrades weekend. I went and watch how they crawl  over the line. must say, have no dsire to suffer like that. the  day had a beuatiful atmosphere.

Table Mountain day out

Bird’s eye view

Hello all you good people. It’s late Friday afternoon and I have weekend fever. Just can’t seem to focus on working anyMore, so have decided to post something fresh.

The first pic is from our 9th floor office balcony. Sweet isn’t it?! The other three is little Gemma and the now tonsil-less Joshua that is making a remarkable recovery from having his vrot bits removed. Amazing how resilient kids are. If it was me, it would have been a different story I’m sure.

We had some nice rain the last week or so. Real Cape Town Winter weather. Today’s nice though as you can see from the pic of beloved Table Mountain.

Other news is that South Africa has gone absolutely crazy. Again. As I’m sure you know. Last night the senseless hate broke through/manifested around the Cape Of Good Hope. Rape, plunder, murder. What the hell are these criminals hoping to achieve? F*&k knows. I say criminals ’cause that’s what they are, as I reckon telling someone to leave your country is one thing, put to plunder their stores and rape their woman and children, then give them a necklace is something totally different altogether. My opinion anyways. Our distant president has finally stepped up to the plate and released the army to help the cops. I am seriously praying that this will be a strong visual deterrent. Well done mBeki. Glad you had the time.

What else?
Anna is really enjoying her job as suit at her new company. She’s as gorgeous as always!
Gemma is on the point of startingto crawl. She is lifting herself up on her hands and knees. Rolls over nicely and is just to adorable.

I heard via the grapevine that the Canadian’s are keeping a little secret from us. Care to explain yourselves H+S? ComeOn don’t keep us in suspense you scoundrels.

AnyHow. gotta fly now. See ya all later and hope you enjoy the weekend.

news

hoesit!! daar het so baie gebeur vandat jul laas van my gehor het. nee, ek ek nie `n girlfriend.

hoogtepunte:

  3. mighty mens confrence. `n boer hier van greytown (angus Buchan) het `n geestelike saam trek gehou.60000 mans het opgepitch.it was massive. dit het my hoop gegee. aan die een kant lyk SA se toekoms nie te great met interest rates, ekonomiese val, hiv, poverty en aan die anderkant dryf dit die populasie na God en rightousness. nou lyk die toekoms nie so donker in ons land, want met God kan dinge nie skeef loop. seek first the kingdom of God and the rest will be added.
  4. comm service poste is uit.lyk my ek gaan terug kaap toe volgende jaar.

Bo[o]b job

OK i’ll be honest. The main reason or today’s post is to move “the bo[o]b” down the list. It’s been so bloody distracting. Every time I come check in, the first thing I see is boboon. I actually resent posting that cape times cover. A MONTH AGO! And still no progress in Zim.

Anyhow. You all can guess where the pics where taken. Spot Liam eh! Looking good… for a younger brother.

Nat neus as jy ‘n kat is.

Hier by ons is alles honkey dorie.

Joshua is oppad virre mangel ekstraksie. OMDAT EK AF WAS VANDAG H[skuus]et ek vir gemma ingevat vir ‘n spuitnaald toediening by die baba kliniek.

Enough to bring tears to one’s eyes.

Kom nou, neem die foto boetie!

pictures of tutu © TPPSA and ©Julian Goldswain

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege to direct a photoShoot at archbishop Tutu’s offices in Freedom Drive for one of the publications on my portfolio. Heart and stroke foundation’s Heart magazine.

I realised from the onset that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and that we will only have one chance to get this absolutely right and that re-shooting simply won’t be an option. My photographer of choice is Julian Goldswain from rewind.co.za and so we set off to set up amidst the numerous trophies adorning his offices. Couldn’t see the Pulitzer though. A few minutes in, in walks the good saint himself and announces that we will all be doing tea together at 11am. A long standing tradition of his that have been neglected the last while. A chance to catch up and get on the same page, so to speak. And something that obviously got us all VERY exited. And have tea, we did. All eyes on the arch and soaking up all that we can. Politely answering his questions, personal mostly, while sipping on tea. He had a Stoney if memory serves.

After tea the interview with my publisher started in his office, while we rushed to conclude the backdrop, lightboxes and so on.

By the time the interview has concluded and we had to start shooting, we where well over our alloted time and he already had two delegates from Ethiopia waiting at his office.

Quickly and feverishly the flash started firing and a full 15 shots later, he started tapping his leg, looking at me and saying, “Kom nou, neem die foto boetie”.

And then, with a warm handshake from the humble giant, he was off to honour the other visitors and left me and julian reeling from the experience. 40 minute setup, for a 4 minute shoot.

We got the shots we needed though and I left knowing that I just experienced one of the most significant mornings of my lifetime. Especially after he admitted that it’ll probably not happen again, as he has stopped doing shoots and stuff, for whatever reason.

Later everyBody. stay well.
